When Jesus was asked what is the first and greatest commandment?
He replied, “The first is, ‘Hear, O Israel: the Lord our God, the Lord is one; you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ The second is this, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.” Mark 12:29-31
These two commandments focus on the foundation of unconditional love. The embodiment of this type can be found here at Little River Presbyterian church. The love for God is heard in the joyful music played and sung every Sunday. The love for neighbor can be seen in the making, tying and giving of each prayer quilts. The gratitude for neighbor is experienced in a meal loving prepared and shared by the Presbyterian Women. This church has a heart for mission within its community, by reaching out to everyone. The love felt for each other within our church family is metaphorically tasted as we gather around the table for a church supper or the church’s yearly Barbeque dinner. This is a loving family church where everyone is welcomed. I invite everyone to come out and have their life transformed by God’s unconditional love shining forth in this historic church.
